A note from President Bob - because of extra players and disturbance of bunkers preferred lies of 20cm is now allowed in bunkers. Still try to smooth out your footprints etc.
Results
Wednesday May, 27, saw the women play the 4-Ball Best Ball Corona Virus Cup. Winners with 45 points were Bronwyn Thorley and Gillian Black. They were followed by Lyn O'Brien and Helen Edwards with 44 and then Anne Coote and Gloria Winmill with 41 points.
The Thursday’s 12-hole comp, played in beautiful conditions, was won by Rodney Jones with 30 points. He was followed by Wok Smith and Geoff Ditton with 27 points. The putting competition was won by John Watts with 18 putts.
On Friday the ladies played a stableford. Bronwyn Thorley and Helen Tickle must be playing well this week as both were in the winner’s circle with Bronwyn beating Helen OCB with 33 points.
The good weather continued throughout the weekend and eighty-one men hit off in ideal conditions for Saturday’s stableford. Dick Hudson finally had his putter working and won the day with 40 points. Runner up was Howard Finlen with 38 points. Place getter scores went down to finish in a countback on 33. Best of the place getters were Darryl Hughes, Geoff Bucknell and Matt Sutton with 37 points and Phil Fox, Tim Moses and Ken Austin, with 36 points.
On the same day the ladies played a stableford. Wendy Alexander was the winner with 37 points from Brenda Zabaks with 34 pts.
Jason Shaw was best in Sunday’s medley stableford. Jason Finished with 39 points and was followed by Justin Bushell with 34 points.
Dick Hudson continued his good form on Tuesday to take out the medley stableford with 36 points in a countback with Jim Shadlow. Place getters were Allen Bujack, 35, Col Flood, 34, Barry Young, 33, and Graham Moore, 32.
Also, on Tuesday – the ladies vets 9-hole comp was won by Lyn O’Brien with 11 points. Runner up was Lorna Smith with 10 points.
The next weeks program is. Wednesday, June 3, the ladies play a stableford. The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday while men’s and women’s stableford’s will be played on Friday. Saturday, June 6, will be the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug for the men and a stableford for the women. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be medley stableford’s. Monday will be the Queen’s Birthday medley stableford. The ladies’ veterans will also play their 9-hole comp on Tuesday.
Tuesdays medley stableford comp is open to anyone. However, while it will still use a time sheet it will have a two-tee hit off. This will allow a more social finish to the competition for the veterans. Players must still maintain social distancing.
The veteran’s Monthly Mug and Championships will resume from Tuesday with scores taken from the medley stableford.
Saturdays Monthly Mug for the men is a chance for the men to improve their positions in both the Hoyt Family Trophy and the Order of Merit.
