Results from the last week
Graham Moore was the winner of Thursday’s 12-hole comp with 26 points. Bill Wade and Col Paton took 2nd and 3rd spots in a 6-way countback. Herb Cox won the putting with 19 putts.
The Anniversary Cup was played on Saturday. The team of Rod Jones and Ken Austin get to hold the 2020 Cup after finishing with 49 points. Lachlin and Jason Coakes and Adrian King and Jason Shaw were the next best pairs with 47 points.
Lachlin Coakes was clearly the best in the single stableford which was held in conjunction with Cup. Lachlin finished with an excellent 43 points, 5 points ahead of Brian Winmill and Ken Austin. Graham Moore, Phil Goddard and Rusty Brien were next best with 37 points. Other ball winners were Richard Black, Jason Shaw, Matt Sutton and Adrian King, 36, Will Williamson, John Coote, Adam Paton, Bruce Garrett, Ben Watling and Rod Jones, 35, and Simon Green and Ian Jeffery in a countback with 34.
Sunday’s medley stableford was washed out.
Wednesday’s 3-ball Irish Stableford was won by the team of Trudi Tonkin, Julie Clark and Nicky Cusack with 78 points. They won in a countback from Helen Tickle, Lorna Smith and Helen Edwards. Third with 73 points was Leonie Davison, Leigh Hobbs and Helen Lockwood.
Wendy Alexander finished with 37 points to be the clear winner in Friday’ stableford. Lyn O’Brien, 34, Pat Pickering and Brenda Zabaks, 33, were the next best on the day.
Saturday’s stableford was taken out by Brodie Smith who had a very impressive 42 points. Helen Lockwood, 41, and Trudi Tonkin, 36, were next best.
This week’s program
On Tuesday, the men’s veterans have their 9 am shotgun start while the ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp.
Wednesday, the ladies play the Captains verse Presidents stableford.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will be a stableford for the ladies and a 9-hole medley stableford for the men and women.
Saturday will be the Mixed 4-Ball Championship held in conjunction with single stablefords for both men and women. The mixed 4-Ball already has a field of 40 players – a big increase on the usual numbers. There are still men available if any ladies would like to enter the mixed 4-ball.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
There are plenty of main events coming up.
The Championships are fast approaching. The ladies will be playing Wednesday’s July 15, 22 and 29. The men will play theirs over two weekends July 25 and 26 and August 1 and 2.
The qualifying round of the men’s 4-ball Marquart Jug will be held July 18 and the veteran’s 4-ball Alan Kenny Memorial Trophy will be held July 21.
