Wednesday 20th May was a single stableford for the ladies with the trophy donated by Naomi Marshall.  Numbers were good with 24 players. Wendy Alexander took out the comp with a very impressive 38 points, with Sandy Cook beating Julie Clark and Mary Schofield in a countback for 2nd with 34 points.

The Thursday’s 12-hole comp was washed out last week.

Friday’s medley stableford was played in cold windy conditions and Wok Smith was best in with 32 points. The ladies played another stableford with 8 players braving chilly conditions. Pat Pickering was the "pick" of the pack winning with 30 points.

Sixty-Nine men hit off in miserable conditions on Saturday.  Rusty Brien was the winner of the stableford with 39 points followed by Matthew Reece, 37 points. These were the only two players to play better than their handicaps. Ben Myler and Ross Chilcott finished with 36 points while Matt McHarg, Jason Shaw, Ben Swan and Mark Lane recorded 35 points.

Six rounds of the Hoyt Family Trophy have been completed. Players best 8 scores from the 12 monthly mugs are used to calculate final scores in November. The leading players at this stage, using players best 5 of 6 mugs, are Bob Watson, Tom Kennedy, Tony Baldwin, Adam Paton and Matthew Reece.

Tony Baldwin leads the Order of Merit ahead of Steve Kent, John Coote and Barry Holland.

The ladies also played a stableford on Saturday ...maybe it was the cold, maybe these are usual numbers for a Saturday, however 5 players had a crack with a very consistent Wendy Alexander winning the day with 36 points.

Ben Myler was the best in a small field for Sunday’s medley stableford. He finished with 38 points and was followed by Matt Reece with 35 points.

Twenty-seven players hit off in ideal conditions for Tuesday’s medley stableford. Ben Myler had an outstanding game to win another comp with 43 points. John Foulcher, 38 points, and Jim Shadlow, 37 points, were next best. Others to perform well were Steve Kent, 35, Farley Sherrott and Larry Finney, 34 points.

Our thanks go to numerous volunteers during this month. Cutting and burning dead trees, whipper snipping, gardening and other maintenance jobs are all helping the course to look a picture.

Ron Cheshier, Will Williamson, Lloyd Manuel, Gordon Dean, Larry Finney, Richard Black, Adrian King, Bob Watling, Zonk Zabacks, Helen Tickle, Jim and Di Shadlow, Wendy Alexander, Col Flood, John Thom, Tim Newberry and Dick Hudson were some of those helping hard working greenkeeper Ben Watling and offsider Andrew Bowen.

The program starting Wednesday, May 27, will play the ladies 4BBB stableford Corona Virus Cup. The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday while men’s and women’s stableford’s will be played on Friday. Saturday, May 30, will be stablefords for the men and for the women while Sunday and Tuesday will be medley stableford’s. The ladies’ veterans will also play their 9-hole comp on Tuesday.
