Golf Report 9/6/2020
A note from President Bob - because of extra players and disturbance of bunkers preferred lies of 20cm is now allowed in bunkers. Still try to smooth out your footprints etc.
Results from the last week
21 players rugged up to play the stableford comp Wednesday, June 3.
The cold didn't seem to bother Lyn O'Brien who, after having a very impressive 22 points up the top, continued her good form down the bottom to finish with 41pts. Runner up was Brenda Zabaks with 36 pts.
Pat Pickering, with 36 points, was the winner of Friday’s stableford. Lynne Lamrock was in second place with 32 points.
On Saturday, the ladies played a stableford. Before the start of play, Sue Urquardt had a 25% chance of winning, and win she did with 30 points. This was in a countback from Sandy Cook.
Lyn O’Brien was back in the winner’s circle again this week in Tuesdays 9-hole vets. She took the prize with 13 points in a countback with Helen Tickle
Barry Croft was a clear winner in Thursday’s 12-hole comp with 32 points. Next best were Steve Kent, 26 points, and Herb Cox in a countback with 25 points. Barry Croft also won the putting with 19 putts.
Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Broker Monthly Mug was won by John Coote. John had an impressive, 2 under par, 68 off the stick to finish with a nett 65. His round included 5 birdies, 10 pars and 3 bogeys.
Marc Borgas was only one shot behind John with a nett 66. Grade winners were A Grade - Jeremy Budda Deen, 67, B Grade – Dave McLennan, 69, C Grade – Marc Borgas and D Grade – Ben Myler, 72.
Ball winners were Tim Moses and Richard Black, 68, Dave McLennan, Larry Finney, Bob Albinus, Bruce Garrett, 69, Adam Paton, Rowan Butler, John Foulcher, Bill Blyth, Tony Schutz, 70, and Gordon Dean, Mitch Myler, Graham Moore, Geoff Caban, 71.
Justin Bushell, 31 points, was the best of a very small field for Sunday’s medley stableford.
An extra medley stableford was held on Monday, the Queen’s Birthday weekend. Peter Muhs had a great round to finish the winner with 42 points. Adam Paton and Ben Myler also had very good rounds to finish with 40 points. Larry Finney, with 36 points, was the last of the ball winners.
Young Gordon Dean was back in form for Tuesday’s veteran competition. Gordon finished with 38 points to take first place in a countback with Larry Finney. In case you missed it, Larry was in the winning groups on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Barry Young, Bob Watson and Jim Shadlow all had good rounds to finish with 37 points. The last of the ball winners was John Foulcher with 35 points.
The next weeks program is. Wednesday, June 10, the ladies play a stableford.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will be a stableford for the ladies and a 9-hole stableford for the men.
Saturday, June 13, will be a stableford for both men and women. Sunday will be a medley stableford.
On Tuesday, the men’s vets go back to a 9 am shotgun start (no need to book in) while the ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp.
