Golf Report for the week ending 30/1/2022.

Tuesday’s men’s vets comp was a 4-ball aggregate. It was won by Gordon Dean and Rob Walters with an outstanding 80 points. Runners up were Trevor Kiernan and John Foulcher and Dave Ryan and Allen Bujack. Nearest the pins went to Nick Heagney, Graham Moore and Ross Tutt.

Australia Day proved to be a social outing with plenty of entertainment through novelty competitions.

Bob Watson had the Best Cart, Trudi Tonkin was the best dressed, Julie McRae nearest the flag, Aaron Coleman was the best anthem singer while Helen Edwards and Anne Coote picked up mystery prizes.

For the actual golf, Trudi Tonkin was best in for the ladies with 38 points and Jeremy Tickle best overall with 42 points.

 

The men’s 12- hole comp on Thursday was won by Peter Payne with 31 points. Des Douglass and Gordon Dean took the next two places in a 3-way countback.

Rod Jones won the nearest the pin and Peter Payne the putting in another countback.

Pat Pickering was best in for the ladies stableford on Friday.

58 players including lots of visitors hit off in Fridays Tait Hino Trucks ‘Dash for Cash’. Grahaeme Anderson from Wyong and a local, Marcus Muggleton were best in with 20 points.

The Clubs Sapphire Cup was completed today under ideal conditions. 162 players from the New England, North West, North Coast, Far North Coast and the Central Coast joined locals to make a fields of more than 160 on each of Saturday and Sunday.

Winners of the 4-ball RSM Sapphire Cup was the local team of Matt Flitcroft and Brett Woodward. They finished Saturday in 16th position but stormed home with 49 points on Sunday to finish with 91 points and take the cup for 2022. 

Locals, Harry Edmonds and Dave Schofield combined to take out the Forsyths Accountants Fourball Stableford on Saturday with 46 points. Grahaeme Anderson from Wyong and a local, Tony Schutz, were runners up with 45 points.

Gross winners were Tony Baldwin and Luke Streater

Sunday’s Inverell H Hardware 4BBB stableford was won by Matt Flitcroft and Brett Woodward in a countback with Nigel Hill and Steve Glover. Both teams finishing with 49 points.

Gross winners were Shane Wilson and Damien Baldwin from Gunnedah.

Previously, on Friday, the Tait HINO ‘Dash for Cash’ was won by Grahaeme Anderson from Wyong.
