Golf Report for the week ending 9/1/2022.

Highlight of the week - John Coote, produced a magnificent round of golf on Saturday to take out the January Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug. He finished with 7 birdies, 10 pars and one bogey. This gave him 63 off the stick and 6 under par for the course. He played off a handicap of 3 to give him a nett 60.

Best in for Monday’s medley stableford was Harry Edmonds with 37 points.

Tuesday’s medley stableford was won by Jeremy Budda Deen with 33 points. Bob Watson,32, Noel Tomlinson 31, and Ross Tutt and Jeff Roberts, 30, were the next best.

Helen Edwards was the winner of Wednesday’s ladies stableford with 35 points. Sue Urquhart, 32, was next and she was followed by Jan Frater and Brenda Zabaks with 30 points.

The men’s 12- hole comp on Thursday was won Trevor Kiernan with 29 points. He won in a countback with Kevin Campbell. Brian Winmill was next best with 28.

John Henderson won the nearest the pin and sunk the putt for a 2 a 5 and John Watts won the putting with an impressive 15 putts for the 12 holes.

Wendy Alexander was best in for Friday’s ladies stableford with 29 points.

This week’s Dash for Cash was won by Jayden Budda Deen with 18 points.

Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug was won by John Coote with his amazing nett 60. He was 4 shots clear of Joe Holahan who finished with a nett 64 to take out C grade. Adam Paton and Rod Jones each finished with nett 65 to take A and B grade prizes.

Adrian King, 65, Paul Amos, Noel Cross and Tony Driscoll, 67, were ball winners. Nearest the pins went to Adrian King, Ross Tutt and Tony Schutz.

Sandy Cook, playing off a handicap of 11, won the ladies stableford with an impressive 40 points. Next best were Trudi Tonkin, 34, and Brenda Zabaks, 30.

Greg Bushell, 35 points, was the best in for a small field on Sunday.

Coming up this week 

The men’s vets return on Tuesday, the ladies play a stableford Wednesday and Friday and the men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday. The Dash for Cash runs through the week.

Saturday will be an Irish fourball for the men and a stableford for the ladies.

Sunday is the NEDGA Pennants. Teams will come from throughout the New England District for this event which the club only gets to hold every ten years.

Nominations close this coming Friday, January 15, for the RSM 2022 Sapphire Cup. Prizes to the value of $16500, will be played for January 28, 29 and 30. Nomination forms for Saturday’s Forsyths 4BBB stableford and Sunday’s Inverell H Hardware 4BBB stablefords are now available at the club or on the Golf Club website ( in the ‘Events’ section. The Tait Hino 9 hole Da$h for Ca$h will be held on Friday, the day prior to the Cup.
