Golf Report for the week ending 26/9/2021.
As the course continued to dry out and provide much more run, stableford scores got better and better during the week. Julie McRae finished with 48 points on Friday and the Aaron Coleman 47 on Saturday.
The ladies’ vets comp was played on Monday. Brenda Zabaks was the winner and Marilyn Young the runner-up.
Although it was another bitterly cold day for Tuesday’s men’s veteran comp there were some very good scores returned. Chris Drake took first spot in a countback with Allen Bujack. They finished with 41 points while Simon Smith and John Tom scored 39 and Steve Kent 35.
Brenda Zabaks continued her good form recording a brilliant 43 points in Wednesday’s ladies stableford. Sue Urquhart finished with 40, Sandy Cook, 39, and Lynne Lamrock and Ann Coote, 38. Helen Lockwood returned with 37 points to take 6th spot.
32 players turned up in beautiful conditions for the men’s Thursday’s 12-hole competition. Rodney Loy finished with 28 points to win in a countback with Max Uebergang. Peter Wallace was next best with 27 points. Gordon Dean won the putting and Kevin Campbell the nearest the pin.
Julie McRae won Friday’s ladies stableford for the 2nd week in a row. She finished with an amazing 48 points, 4 clear of Helen Tickle. Helen thought she was on a good thing to win with 44 points but that wasn’t to be. The handicapper has taken note of both scores. Pat Pickering was 3rd with 39 points followed by Wendy Alexander and Kerry Nicholson with 36.
Steven McIntosh won last week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ with 21 points
Saturday’s men’s stableford was won by Aaron Coleman with an outstanding 47 points. John Austin finished with 44, Jeff Miller, 43, Ken Austin, 42, and Harley Tickle and Andrew Kerr, 40. They were followed by 6 players with 39 points and 8 players with 38. Nearest the pins were Will Williamson and Brian Winmill.
The ladies stableford was won by Wendy Alexander with 38 points. Lynne Lamrock, 36, was next and then Leonie Davison, 35.
Peter Schofield took out Sunday’s medley stableford with 43 points. Next best were Jayden Budda-Dean, 39, and Tom Murphy, 38,.

Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford.
Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off at 8:30. This will be the first round of the spring competition for the TV donated by Anthony Hyde.
The ladies have a 2-person Keno ambrose on Wednesday.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies.
Saturday will be the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug for the men and a four-ball stableford for the women.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
