Golf Report for the week ending 28/11/2021.
Another wet week meant the ladies missed out on Monday, Friday and Saturday. All other games were restricted to the top 9 twice.
John Henderson was the winner of the men’s veteran comp on Tuesday. He finished with 36 points and won in a countback with Ross Tutt. John Tom, Jim Shadlow and Steve Kent were the ball winners. Nearest the pins went to Simon Smith, Rob Walters and Stewart Berryman while John Henderson won the putting.
Jim Shadlow won the Monthly Mug in a countback with Simon Smith. Both scored 3-round totals of 105 points.
The ladies played their Keno 2-person ambrose on Wednesday. Sandy Cook and Trudi Tonkin combined to win the day and qualify for the next step. Wendy Alexander and Sue Urquhart were runners up. Di Shadlow picked up the nearest the pin.
Peter Wallace won the men’s 12-hole competition on Thursday with 32 points. Next were Barry Croft, Rodney Loy and Brian Winmill with 29 points. Peter Wallace also won the putting with only 15 putts while Steve Kent took the nearest the pin.
The Inverell ladies played the final of their NEDGA pennants Walcha in Glen Innes on Thursday. Walcha won the final after winning 3 matches while Inverell won 2.
Gary Hadland won Saturday’s stableford with 43 points. The grade winners were Jason Pomfrett, Rod Jones and John Austin while ball winners were Mal Dickson and Nick Glover. Nearest the pins went to Howard Finlen and Nick Glover.
Mal and Bill Dickson move into the Final of the Marquart Jug after defeating Anthony Hyde and Adrian King. They will play Larry Finney and Dave Worgan who had a win over Ben Swan and David Hawker.
In the Mills Plate Jeremy Tickle and Jason Pomfrett defeated Steve Kent and Gary Hadland while Mick Tanner and John Foulcher defeated Chris Drake and Simon Smith. The winners move to the final.
The finals of the Marquart Jug and Mills Plate are set down for December 11.
Coming up this week.
Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford.
Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off at 8:30.
The ladies play a 3-person Ambrose on Wednesday and follow that with presentation and dinner.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will see the summer stableford played by the ladies – hitting off at 8:30.
Saturday, December 4, is the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug and the Gold Mug playoff for those that have won a monthly Mug during the last year.
the NEDGA pennants set down for Inverell on Sunday has been postponed until January 16. A medley stableford will be held instead.
The RSM 2022 Sapphire Cup with prizes to the value of $16500, will be played next January 29 and 30. Nomination forms for Saturday’s Forsyths 4BBB stableford and Sunday’s Inverell H Hardware 4BBB stablefords are now available. The Tait Hino 9 hole Da$h for Ca$h will be held on Friday, the day prior to the Cup.
