Golf Report for the week ending 31/10/2021.

Monday’s veteran’s ladies comp was won by Marilyn Young. Lorna Smith was runner-up.

Simon Smith, 37 points, was the winner of the men’s veteran comp on Tuesday. He won in a countback with Jim Shadlow. John Henderson, 36, Ross Tutt, 35, and Steve Kent,34, were the ball winners. Nearest the pins went to Noel Tomlinson and Steve Kent twice. Steve also won the putting. John Henderson won the Monthly Mug with a 3-round total of 103.

This Tuesday, Melbourne Cup Day, there will be 2 groups of builders playing the top 9 and hitting off at 7 and 8:30am. To accommodate them the vets will hit off on the bottom 9 and will hit off at 9am again but for this week only.

The ladies played the 1st round of their 36 hole 4-ball-best-ball stroke on Wednesday. Julie McRae and Helen Lockwood combined well to finish on top with nett 59. Teams of Pat Pickering and Lyn O’Brien and Mary Schofield and Judy Ditton were close behind with scores of 60.  Sandy Cook and Gloria Winmill won the nearest the pins.

Rod Jones, 30 points, was the winner of the men’s 12-hole competition on Thursday in a countback with John Watts. Des Douglass was 3rd with 29 points. Nick Heagney won the putting and Ken Uebergang the nearest the pin.

Friday’s ladies stableford was washed out.

Aaron Coleman was the winner of last week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ with 18 points. Note - The Dash for Cash will now have a prize run down. The more players the more winners and more money to be won.

Saturday’s men’s stableford was won by Mal Dickson with 40 points. Grade winners were Bruce Garrett, 38, Adrian King, 36, and Don Sims, 37. Placegetters were Larry Finney and Aaron Coleman, 37, Howard Finlen ,36, and Dave Worgan and Geoff Caban, 35.

Nearest the pins went to Bruce Garrett and Herb Cox.

The ladies stableford was won by Sandy Cook with 36 points and Wendy Alexander was runner-up with 35.

Nick Glover finished with 39 points to take out Sunday’s medley stableford. Next best was Dave Worgan with 38 points followed by David Hawker and Aaron Coleman, 35.

Coming up this week.

Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford.

Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off on the bottom 9 at 9am for 1 more Tuesday.

The ladies play the 2nd round of their Regency Jewelers 36-hole 4BBB stroke on Wednesday.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies.

Saturday, November, will be the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug for the men and the 9th and last round of the stableford comp for the ladies.

Sunday will be a medley stableford and the last chance to play 3rd

round of the of the Marquart Jug and 2nd Mills Plate for the men.
