Golf Report for the week ending 7/11/2021.
Monday’s veteran’s ladies comp was won by Peg Williams. Gillian Black was runner-up.
Leon Fox, 36 points, was the winner of the men’s veteran comp on Tuesday. He won in a 4-way countback with Jim Shadlow, Gordon Dean and Simon Smith. Ross Tutt was next best with 35. Nearest the pins went to Dave Ryan, Bob Watson and Jim Shadlow while Gordon Dean won the putting.
The ladies completed the 2nd round of their 36 hole 4-ball-best-ball stroke on Wednesday. Julie McRae and Helen Lockwood finished with a 2-round total of 125 to take the event two shots clear of Mary Schofield and Judy Ditton.
Best in for the 2nd round was the pair of Brenda Zabaks and Sandy Cook with nett 61 and Liz Hobday and Leigh Hobbs with 62. Nearest the pins were won by Sandy Cook, Lyn O’Brien and Judy Ditton.
Steve Kent, 29 points, was the winner of the men’s 12-hole competition on Thursday. Howard Finlen and Gordon Dean were next best with 27 points. Gordon won the putting and Ross Tutt the nearest the pin.
The Friday ladies managed to get their games in before the heavier showers started. Di Shadlow had another win with 35 stableford points in a countback with Bronwyn Thorley. Leonie Davison was next best with 32.
Sam Williamson was the winner of this week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ with 21 points.
Saturday’s Sutton’s Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug was won by Mick Tanner with an outstanding nett 61, 8 under his handicap. Runner-up was Anthony Hyde with nett 65. Grade winners were A Grade - Bob Cook, 65, B Grade – Adrian King, 65 and C & D Grade – Bob Albinus, 68. Placegetters were Herb Cox, 66, and John Coote, Gary Hadland and David Hawker, 67. Nearest the pins were won by Paul Amos and Marcus Muggleton.
Saturday also saw the men’s Hoyt Cup and Order of Merit finalised. Ben Davis finished well to take the Hoyt Cup 2 shots clear of Harry Edmonds while Anthony Hyde took out the Order of Merit ahead of Ben Davis.
Trudi Tonkin was the ladies stableford winner with 32 points.
While Sunday’s medley stableford was a nonevent due to expected rain, Nigel Hill did play and finished with 39 points.
The 3rd round of the Marquart Jug was completed was completed on Saturday. Two of the games went to the 19th hole to get a winner. The Mils Plate matches were all completed within the 18 holes. The 4 pairs remaining in each comp must play their matches by November 28.

Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford.
Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off at 8:30.
The ladies have their Monthly Medal winners playoff – a stroke event on Wednesday.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies.
Saturday, November 13 will be a stableford for the men and par event for the ladies.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
