Golf Report for the week ending 3/10/2021.
Monday’s ladies’ vets was won by Gloria Winmill and Helen Tickle was the runner-up.
Dick Hudson with 38 points won Tuesday’s men’s veteran comp in a countback with John Henderson. Ball winners were Graham Moore, Chris Drake and Steve Kent, each with 37 points. Nearest the pins were John Foulcher, Steve Kent and John Henderson. John managed a birdie on the 9th although he didn’t see it because he was using a 5-wood from down in the gully for his 2nd shot. John Foulcher won the putting. Due to daylight saving starting the vets move back to a 9am hit-off for October.
Wednesday’s ladies were washed out.
Darrell Campbell was the winner of the men’s 12-hole competition on Thursday. He won in a countback with Herb Cox and Ken Austin, all players finishing with 25 points for the 12 holes. Nearest the pin was Herb Cox.
Anne Peters was the best in for a small group of ladies on Friday. She finished with 34 points and was followed by Sandra Williams.
Leonie Davison last week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ with points 21 points.
Saturday’s comp was the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug for the men. It was won by Ian Jeffery. Ian was playing off a handicap of 10 and finished with, 3 birdies, 10 pars and 5 bogies for 71 off the stick and a nett 61. Ben Davis won A Grade with another good score, nett 63. Other grade winners with nett scores were - B Grade – Jeremy Tickle, 68, C Grade – John Stansfield, 64, and D grade – Jayden Budda-Deen, 69. Other impressive scores were, Harry Edmonds, 64, Tony Baldwin, 65, Adam Paton and Paul Amos, 66. Ball winners went down to 68.
Nearest the pins went to Andrew Iskov and Ian Jeffery.
David Hawker took out Sunday’s medley stableford with 39 points in a countback with Matt Sparke. Anthony Hyde finished with 38 points and Larry Finney, 37.
Coming up this week
Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford and there will also be a medley stableford for the public holiday.
Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off at 9am.
The ladies play their monthly medal stroke on Wednesday.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies.
Saturday, October 9, will be the Campbell and Freebairn Inverell Mixed Open 4-ball. Single stablefords will also run for the men and the women.
Sunday will be the Campbell and Freebairn Inverell Open.
