Golf Report for the week ending 19/9/2021.

Results for the last week.

It is great to see that the number of players taking part in both competition and social golf continues to increase. Over 90 players turned up for Saturday’s competitions.

The ladies’ vets comp was played on Monday. Brenda Zabaks was the winner and Marilyn Young the runner-up.

23 players hit off in bitterly cold conditions for Tuesday’s men’s veteran comp. Only 9 players completed the 18 holes after light hail put a temporary halt to play. The winner with 33 points was Allen Bujack. Bob Watson and Dave Ryan finished with 32 and Ron Cheshier 31. The vets men will go back to an 8:30 start this week with presentation following the comp.

Kerry Nicholson continued her good form to win Wednesday’s ladies stableford with 37 points. Helen Lockwood was runner up with 35 points. Leigh Hobbs, Julie McRae, Naomi Marshall and Pat Pickering all finished with 34 points.

Thursday’s 12-hole competition was won by Kevin Campbell with 32 points. 2nd place was taken by Dave Ryan with 29 and 3rd was Peter Payne in a countback with Herb Cox.

Herb won the putting and Graham Moore the nearest the pin.

Julie McRae won the ladies stableford on Friday. She finished with 37 points, 3 clear of Kerry Nicholson, Pat Pickering and Anne Peters.

Tim Newberry, with 21 points, had another win in last week’s ‘Dash for Cash’.

Saturday’s men’s stableford was won by Harley Tickle with 40 points. Adrian King, Herb Cox and Jayden Budda-Deen were only one point behind while Ross Chilcott and Brian Winmill finished with 37 points and Harry Edmonds 36. Ball winners went down to 35 points. Dave Worgan and Rowan Butler picked up the nearest the pins.

In the ladies stableford, Brenda Zabaks, 40 points, was the winner in a countback with Sandy Cook. Helen Lockwood, 39 and Leigh Hobbs and Leonie Davison, 38, rounded off good results for the ladies.

Harry Edmonds took out Sunday’s medley stableford again, this time with 38 points. Greg Bushell was next with 36 points and then Anthony Hyde with 34.

The first round of the Marquart Jug was finalised on with Sunday some very close results. Billy Blyth and Bob Albinus took out regular 4-ball winners Gary Hadland and Steve Kent after 20 holes. Ian Jeffery and Tony Baldwin also took 20 holes to finish off Ted Edmonds and Adam Paton.

Monday – the vets ladies play their 9-hole stableford.

Tuesday, the vets men play their 18-hole stableford hitting off at 8:30. The men are asked to book in on the time sheet. You can do this via onegolf or by ringing the clubhouse.

The ladies have a stableford comp on Wednesday.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies.

Saturday will be stablefords for men and women.

Sunday will be a medley stableford.


The ladies golf AGM is set down for Wednesday, October 13, at 1pm.
