Golf Report for the week ending 5/9/2021.

Results for the last week.
Except for Sunday, the weather was ideal for golf this week so there were good fields in the competitions and plenty of social players out enjoying the sunshine and exercise.
John Tom was the winner of Tuesday’s veterans golf with a solid 36 points. His playing partner, Tim Newberry finished with 35 points to take 2nd place ahead of John Green, 34, and Richard Black, 33, in a countback with Bob Watson.
Leon Fox was the winner of the men’s vets Monthly Mug for August with a 3-round total of 100 points. Peter Wallace was 1 point behind.
Pat Pickering was the winner the ladies’ vets and Brenda Zabaks was runner-up.
It was a beautiful day for Wednesday’s ladies stableford competition. Leonie Davison, 35 points, was the winner in a countback with Kerry Nicholson. Sandy Cook and Sue Urquhart were next best with 34 points.
Thursday’s 12-hole competition was won by Herb Cox in a countback with Peter Payne on 27 points. Ken Austin was next with 26 points and Mark Lane won the putting.
On another lovely day for golf, Jan Frater won Friday’s ladies stableford with 38 points. Jan was 3 points clear of Leonie Davison and Leigh Hobbs. They were followed by Wendy Alexander with 34 points.
This week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ was won by Howard Finlen.
The September Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug was taken out by Nick Glover with nett 62. Jeremy Tickle was runner-up with nett 64. Grade winners and nett scores were A Grade – Harry Edmonds, 64, B Grade Bruce Garrett, 65, C Grade – Dick Hudson, 68, and D Grade - Harley Tickle, 68.
Ball winners started with Ben Davis, 65, and Rusty Brien, 66, and went down to a countback on 69.
Naomi Marshall was the best of the ladies stableford with 34 points.
Because of the miserable conditions on Sunday, few players turned up for the medley stableford.
This weeks events.
There is the daily Dash for Cash for men and women.
Tuesday, the vets ladies and men play stablefords. The men are asked to book in on the time sheet. You can do this via onegolf or by ringing the clubhouse.
The ladies have a stroke event on Wednesday. (Please book in via onegolf timesheet so that cards can be available).
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday will see a stableford played by the ladies. (Please book in via onegolf timesheet so that cards can be available).
Saturday will be stablefords for men and women. The men’s will be another qualifying round for the CJW Tree Services Shootout.
Sunday is a medley stableford.
the last play date for round 1 of the Marquart Jug has been postponed to September 1. This date may have to be reviewed again depending on COVID restrictions.
