Golf Report for the week ending 11/4/2021
Last Monday, Easter Monday, the medley stableford was won by Ben Myler with 38 points in a countback with Matt Reece. Lachlan Green was next best with 35 points.
Jim Shadlow was the winner of Tuesday’s vets comp with 36 points. Next best was Dave Ryan, 35, followed by Leon fox, John Foulcher, Graham Moore and Peter Wallace all with 33 points.
Nearest the pins were John Foulcher twice and Noel Tomlinson. Foulcher also picked up the putting prize.
Sandra Williams was the winner of Wednesday’s stableford with an excellent +3 in the ladies’ par event. Helen Edwards was next best with +2.
Steve Kent was in the winner’s circle again when he took out Thursday’s 12-hole comp with 28 points. Nick Heagney was 2nd with 27 points in a 3-way countback with Trevor Kiernan and Rod Jones. Graham Moore won the putting and Greg Brabrant the nearest the pin.
Fridays ladies stableford was won by Bronwyn Thorley with 32 points. Di Shadlow was next best with 30 points.
Matt Reece was the winner of this week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’. He was in a 3-way countback with Hayden Sims and Stuart Finlen. Each finished with 19 points.
Ben Davis had an outstanding round to finish 5 shots clear of the next best in Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug. Ben, playing off 16, had 77 off the stick to finish with a net 61.
Grade winners were A Grade – Harry Edmonds, 67, B Grade – Mat Penberthy, 70, and C Grade – Jack Hepi, 67.
Ball winners started with Jason Martin, 66, Gary Hadland and John Stansfield, 68, and Stephen Foster,69, and went down to 71. Nearest the pins went to Phil Fox and Ken Austin.
Best in the ladies stableford was Brenda Zabaks with 26 points.
Sunday’s Medley stableford was won by Matt Reece with 37 points. Jason Pomfrett was next best with 35.
The Presidents Cup is getting to the interesting stage with one round before the final. Brooke Sheppard plays Harry Edmonds for one spot and Noel Cross plays Dave Schofield for the other.

There is the daily Dash for Cash for men and women.
Tuesday, April 13, the vets ladies and men will hit off at 8:30. 15 men will be travelling to Glen Innes to play in vets the Claydon Shield.
Wednesday, the ladies play a stroke.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday is a stableford for the ladies.
Saturday, April 17, is a stableford for the men and the 4th round of the Presidents Cup. The ladies will play a par event.
Sunday will be a medley stableford. Sunday will also see the arrival of many travelling vets golfers as they turn up for the afternoon sausage sizzle.
