Golf Report for the week ending 14/2/2021
Tuesday’s vets was won by Dick Hudson with a solid 39 points. Runner up was Rob Walters with 37 points. He was followed by Gordon Dean and Wok Smith, 36, and Col Flood, 35.
Nearest the pins went to Rob Walter, Steve Kent and Simon Smith. Wok Smith won the putting with 29 putts.
Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by M Parrilla in a 3-way countback with Doug Shirley and Gordon Dean.
John Watts won the putting with 19 putts and Brian McLennan was nearest the pin.
Tony Driscoll was the winner of the Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug with nett 64.
Grade winners were A Grade – Harry Edmonds, 67, B Grade – Adrian King, 66, and C Grade – Noel Cross, 65.
Place getters were Rod Jones, 66, Braden Gainey, Dave Schofield and Dave Worgan, 67, Jason Shaw and Anthony Hyde, 68, and Glendon Hodges, Nick Cummings and Bob Cook, 69.
This was also the qualifying round of the Presidents Cup. The draw for the first round to be played by Saturday February 27 will be out shortly.
Tuesday’s vets 9-hole comp was won by Mary Schofield. Lorna Smith was the runner up.
The ladies Wednesday stableford was won by Sandra Williams with an impressive 40 points. Pat Pickering was in the winners circle again with 37 points and Helen Lockwood came in 3rd with 36 points.
Sandra Williams was out again for Friday’s stableford and had another win. This time with 38 points. Next best was Wendy Alexander with 34.
Nicky Cusack, 39 points, took out the ladies Saturday stableford 5 points clear of 2nd placed Brodie Smith.
This week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was taken out by Harry Edmonds with 22 points. 30 scorecards were handed in, so Harry picked up a good prize in this winner take all event.
Sunday’s stableford was won another newcomer, Jason Pomfrett with 39 points. Nick Cumming and Rowan Butler took 2nd and 3rd with 34 points. Michael Williams and Anthony Hyde took the next two spots with 33 points.
The next weeks program is -
There is the daily 9-hole Dash for Cash medley event (men and women in a joint comp). This runs from Sunday through to Friday each week during daylight saving and the winner is the player with the best score for the week. Total cost is $10 which covers green fees, $5, and comp fee $5.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 16th, the vets men will hit off at 8:30. The ladies will play the top 9 hitting off at the same time.
Wednesday, the ladies play a stableford.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday is a stableford for the ladies.
Saturday, February 20, is the The Volkswagen Scramble for men and women – a 4 Person ambrose $40 per player includes 6 Callaway golf balls. Bookings can be made through onegolf or by ringing the club.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
