Golf Report for the week ending 4/4/2021

Steve Kent, 37 points, was the winner of Tuesday’s vets in a countback with Ron Cheshire. Place getters were Richard Black and Simon Smith, 34, and Dick Hudson, 33, in a countback.

Nearest the pins were Ron Cheshire, Dick Hudson and Bob Watson while Simon Smith, 28 putts, won the putting in a 3-way countback. Steve Kent won the Monthly Mug with a 3-round total of 103.

Wednesday’s ladies stableford was taken out by Helen Lockwood with 34 points. Next best were Sandy Cook, 29, and Leonie Davison, 28.

The in-form John Henderson won Thursday’s 12-hole comp with an outstanding 32 points. Next best were Howard Finlen and Graham Moore with 29 points. Steve Kent was the winner of the nearest the pin and the putting comp.

Last week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was won by Matt O’Reilly with 17 points.

Saturday saw the men play the Easter Cup 4-ball in conjunction with a single stableford. Steve Kent and Jeremy Tickle combined to take out the Cup with 47 points. Arron Coleman and Jason Pomfrett paired up to finish with 45 points. Jason Shaw won the single stableford with 39 points followed by Matt O’Reilly, Bruce Garrett and Mick Tanner each with 37 points. Ball winners went down to 35 points.

Best in the ladies stableford was Leonie Davison with 31 points.

Sunday’s Medley stableford was won by Harry Edmonds. Harry is now playing off 8 and managed to finish with 39 points. Next best was Di Shadlow with 35.   

Note - The Breast Cancer Charity Day has been postponed to a date to be decided.

The daily 9-hole Dash for Cash running from Sunday through to Friday.

Today, Easter Monday, is a medley stableford.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 6th, the vets men and women will hit off at 8:30.

Wednesday, the ladies play a par event.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday - the ladies will play a stableford.

Saturday, April 10, will be the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug for the men for the men and a stableford for the ladies.

Sunday will be a medley stableford and also the last chance to play the quarter final of the Presidents Cup for the men.
