Golf Report for the week ending 20/6/2021.
The long weekend’s Monday modified stableford was won by Jason Pomfrett with 40 points. Marli Gobbert, 38, and Matt Reece, 37, took 2nd and 3rd places.
Lorna Smith was the winner of the ladies Tuesday’s veteran’s competition. Mary Schofield was runner up.
Tim Newberry had a big win in Tuesday’s men’s vets comp finishing with 42 points, 6 clear of his nearest rival, Gordon Dean. Steve Kent, Larry Finney and Greg Brabant were the ball winners. Nearest the pins were Gordon Dean and Jim Shadlow twice while Larry Finney won the putting. Gordon also took out the June monthly mug with a 3-round total of 109 points.
The ladies played a 3-ball Irish stableford on Wednesday. The winning team was Sandy Cook, Kerry Nicholson and Sue Urquhart while the runner up team was Sandra Williams, Gloria Winmill and Jan Frater. Sandra also picked up the nearest the pin.
Rod Jones, 32 points, took out the Thursday 12-hole comp in a countback with Greg Brabant. Peter Payne was next best with 28. Kevin Campbell was nearest the pin and Greg Brabrant won the putting with 19 putts.
Friday stableford was won by Sandra Williams with 28 points.
The best in for the week’s Dash for Cash was Peter Schofield with 15 points.
The Anniversary Cup 4-ball multiplier stableford was held in less-than-ideal conditions on Saturday and the individual scores reflected those conditions. Only 3 players in a field of 52 scored better than 35 points. The Cup winning pair was Aaron Coleman and Jason Pomfrett. They finished with 87 points which was a massive 21 points ahead of 2nd placed Anthony Hyde and Matt O’Reilly. Marc Borgas and Ben Davis were next best with 63 points.
Aaron Coleman took out the stableford competition that was held in conjunction with the Cup. He finished with 40 points, 3 clear of playing partner Jason Pomfrett and also Marc Borgas. Next was Matt O’Reilly, 35, and then Phil Fox and Dylan Lewis with 34.
Sue Urquhart was the best in for the ladies.
Sunday’s medley stableford was won by Peter Schofield with a solid 37 points. Jeremy Tickle and Lindsay Gunther were next best with 34 and then Ben Myler with 33 points.

The ladies will play the captain v President stableford on Wednesday.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Saturday, June 26, will be the mixed 4-ball championship in conjunction with single stableford for the men and the ladies.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
Note – July 4 is the NEDGA Open in Armidale. If you are interested in playing you can give your name to John Coote. A bus may be organized if there are enough interested.
