Golf Report for the week ending 16/5/2021.
Tuesday’s ladies vets was won by Julie McRae and Pat Pickering was runner-up.
Noel Tomlinson won the Tuesday’s vets for the 2nd straight week. Noel finished with 40 points this week after recording 37 last week. Ross Tutt was runner-up with 37 points. Ball winners were Simon Smith, Dick Hudson and John Henderson, each with 33 points. Nearest the pins went to Greg Brabrant, Richard Cracknell and Simon Smith while John Henderson won the putting.
The 2nd round of the ladies Championship was played on Wednesday. Liz Hobday leads the way with a 2 round gross score of 171. Sandy Cook, 175, is not far behind. Trudi Tonkin has a big lead in B grade with a total of 183. Helen Edwards is next nearest with a score of 199.
Trudi is also leader of the overall nett with 139 followed by Gloria Winmill, 143.
Helen Tickle, 58 points, leads C grade 2 points ahead of Julie McRae in their stableford competition.
Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Bill Wade with 31 points. Ken Austin took 2nd spot and then Doug Shirley 3rd in a countback with Peter Payne and John Henderson.
John Henderson won the putting again and Brian McLennan the nearest the pin.
Helen Lockwood, 38 points, took out the ladies stableford on Friday in a countback with Anne Peters. Sandy Cook was next best with 36.
Last week’s Dash for Cash was won by Matt Reece with 19 points. Dylan Lewis was runner up with 18 points.
The 1st two rounds of the men’s Championship were played over the weekend.
On Saturday Steven Mcintosh finished with nett 64 to take the day 3 shots clear of Adam Paton. Next was Jim Shadlow with 68 and then Dick Hudson, Luke Bourke, John Foulcher, Matt Reece and Chris Drake, all with nett 69.
Steve Kent returned an outstanding score of nett 63 in Sunday’s stroke to record a win on the day. Will Williamson was next with 65 and then Chris Drake 66. They were followed by Ted Edmonds, Harley Tickle, John Foulcher and Harry Edmonds all with nett 69.
After two rounds of the club championships Phil Fox leads the A Grade gross by 2 shots over Adam Paton and 3 ahead of John Coote.
Jim Shadlow leads A Grade nett, 1 ahead of both Harry Edmonds and Adam Paton.
In A Reserve, John Foulcher leads from Ian Jeffery.
B Grade gross is led by Ted Edmonds from Steve Kent & Matt O’Reilly.
Will Williamson leads C Grade from Steven McIntosh.
The D Grade gross and nett are led by Chris Drake from Leon Fox and Ross Tutt.

Tuesday, the vets ladies and men hit off at 9am.
Wednesday will be the 3rd and final round of the ladies championships. The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday is a stableford for the ladies.
Saturday, will be a stableford for the ladies the 3rd round of the men’s championships. The men will play their final round the next day Sunday the 23rd .
