Golf Report for the week ending 18/4/2021

The upcoming week will be a little different for Inverell golfers. There is a Veteran’s ‘Week of Golf’ starting Monday and this will affect the normal competitions. Around 150 vets will take to the course Monday through to Friday with a rest day Wednesday. The club will run a medley stableford on Wednesday. This will be of interest to those golfers who have missed out because their usual day has been cancelled.

The Dash for Cash will continue but players will not be permitted on the course until after the vets are through.

The Thursday 12-hole comp will be moved to Delungra for this week.

Also Note Because of the wet the practice course is out of action until further notice.

14 players represented Inverell vets at Glen Innes on Tuesday. The best results were Steve Kent 33 points and Barry Young 31.

Back in Inverell, Tuesday’s vets comp was won by Tim Newberry with 36 points. He was followed by John Henderson, 34, Dave Ryan, 33, and Simon Smith in a countback with 32 points.

Nearest the pins were Paul Johnson, Bob Watson and Brian McLennan while Tim Newberry won the putting.

The ladies’ vets was won by Anne Peters in a countback with Helen Tickle.

Max Uebergang, 29 points, was the winner of Thursday’s 12-hole comp in a countback with K Mulholland. Ken Uebergang was next with 28 points while Gordon Dean won the putting.

Friday’s ladies stableford was won by Bronwyn Thorley. Bronwyn had a great round to finish with 42 points. Leonie Davison finished in second place with a very solid 38 points.

The weekly 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ has remained popular with 35 players taking part in this week’s Dash. Harry Edmonds, 19 points, was this week’s winner in a countback with Aaron Coleman.

Saturday’s comps were washed out when steady rain hit the course mid-morning.

Sunday’s medley stableford was well supported with Rowan Butler taking the prize. Rowan finished with 40 points, 2 ahead of Aaron Coleman. Next was Tom Murphey, 37, and then Corey Borthwick and Jason Pomfrett, 36.
