Golf Report for the week ending 28/3/2021

Because of the heavy rain and flooding the course was closed throughout the week. It was open for Saturday and Sunday, but comps were restricted to playing the top 9 twice. Water running across fairways meant that the gullies couldn’t be mown, and balls were lost in the water and grass on the majority of fairways. Planning where to land balls was paramount.

Last week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was limited to the one day before rain intervened. Stewart Berryman finished with 18 points last Sunday to take the prize for the week.

46 players were up for the challenge for Saturday’s stableford. Rusty Brien finished with 39 points to take top spot. He was followed by Tristan Irwin, 38, Dave Ryan, 37, John Coote, 36, and Peter Richardson, 35.

Sunday’s medley stableford was won by Greg Bushell, 30 points, in a countback with Anthony Hyde.

Note - Preferred lies are now being played on the fairway only and restricted to the fairway on the hole being played.

Players are asked to use care and to stick to pathways wherever possible to reduce damage to the fairways. The course is still very wet and will remain that way for a good while.

The next weeks program is -

There is the daily 9-hole Dash for Cash running from Sunday through to Friday.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 30th, the vets men will hit off at 8:30 to play the top 9 twice. The vets ladies will play the top 9 holes at the same hit off time.

Wednesday, the ladies play a stableford.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Good Friday - the club may be open in the afternoon.

Saturday, April 3, will be the Easter Cup 4-ball for the men and a stableford for the ladies.
