Golf Report for the week ending 8/8/2021.

A couple of important notes.

Some players are still going in groups with just one player in a cart. We are asking again that you share your cart to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on our course.

For those that have not paid their subs – they are now overdue. Please attend to this if your membership is still to be paid.

Men’s and women’s veterans golf was cancelled on Tuesday because of rain. The men’s vets’ AGM was postponed until after play this Tuesday.

The ladies decided that it was a bit miserable for golf on Wednesday so there was no comp.

While it was very cool on Thursday the fellows must have decided they needed to get out and 31 players turned up for the 12-hole comp. John Watts was the winner with 31 points followed by Leon Fox, 29, and Col Paton, 28.

John Watts also won the putting and Steve Kent the nearest the pin.

The ladies stableford held on Friday was won by Anne Peters in a countback with Leonie Davison. Leigh Hobbs was next best.

Last week’s ‘Dash for Cash’ was won by Harley Tickle with an outstanding 23 points.

72 players hit off in ideal conditions on Saturday. The men played the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug and the 2nd round of the CJW Tree Services Shootout and the ladies played a single stableford.

Nick Glover won the monthly mug with his nett 67 while the grade winners were A Grade - Anthony Hyde, 68, B Grade – Lachlin Coakes, 70, and C Grade – Paul Amos, 71. Steve Kent, 69, Rowan Butler, Ian Jeffery and Ted Edmonds, 70, were the ball winners. Nearest the pins went to Corey Borthwhick and Rowan Butler.

Nicky Cusack was the best of the ladies with 31 points. She was followed by Brenda Zabaks and Sue Urquhart.
