Golf Report for the week ending 2/5/2021.

Our congratulations go to Helen Edwards who was Division 2 nett runner up in the 3-day NEDGA tournament held in Glen Innes late April.

Tuesday’s vets ladies was won by Gillian Black. Helen Tickle was the runner up.

Tuesday’s vets men’s event was a 4-ball aggregate. Larry Finney and Jim Shadlow were best in with 71 points followed by John Green and Dick Hudson, 66. Next were John Henderson and Leon Fox with 64. Nearest the pins went to Larry Finney, Dave Ryan and Jim Shadlow.

Some of our members travelled to Uralla last week to play in their ‘Week of Golf’. Steve Kent and Ross Tutt were able to pick up prizes.

Men and lady vets are reminded that their shotgun starts will now move to 9am.

Wednesday’s

The ladies started their Club Championships on Wednesday.  Divisions 1 & 2 played a stroke while Division 3 played a stableford.

In Division 1, Sandy Cook had the best gross with 86 off the stick followed by Liz Hobday, 88. Di Shadlow leads the nett with a score of 70 followed by Sandy Cook, 75.

In Division 2, Trudi Tonkin leads the gross with 88 off the stick followed by Helen Edwards, 96.  Trudi also leads the nett with, 66, followed by Gloria Winmill, 68.

Division 3 played a stableford and Helen Tickle, 27 points, leads Anne Coote by one point.

The ladies championship will continue this Wednesday.

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Rodney Loy with 32 points. Brian Winmill and Des Douglass took the next two spots with 29 points.

Ken Austin won the putting and Herb Cox the nearest the pin.

Sandra Williams was the best of the ladies in Friday’s stableford finishing with 33 points. Pat Pickering came in second with 30.

Last week’s Dash for Cash was won by Matt Reece with 18 points.

The ladies played a stableford on Saturday. Wendy Alexander finished with an excellent 40 points to take the prize for the day.

The men played their Sutton Insurance Broker Monthly Mug on Saturday. Ted Edmonds finished with a nett 65 to take this month’s Mug.

Grade winners were A Grade – Matt McHarg, 67, B Grade – Tom Kennedy, 71, and C Grade – Noel Cross, 70.

Ball winners were Brian Fox, Bob Cook and Jim Shadlow with nett 69 and Andrew Walsh, John Coote and Mick Tanner with 70. Nearest the pins went to Matt McHarg and Ken Austin.

An influx of visitors hit the course for Sunday’s stableford with 21 players coming from Moree alone. Locals took the first 5 spots with Aaron Baker leading the way after finishing with 36 points. Rowan Butler, 35, Adrian King, 34, Paul Amos, Jason Pomfrett, Mark Treloar and Russell Carty, 33, were next best on the day.

There is the daily Dash for Cash for men and women.

Tuesday, May 4, the vets ladies and men will hit off at the new time of 9am.

Wednesday is the 2nd round of the ladies championships.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday is a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday, May 8, will be a 4-ball for the men and a stableford for the ladies.

Sunday will be the Mother’s Day medley stableford.

Note – The men’s championships are set to start in less than 2 weeks, May 15.
