Golf Report for the week ending 25/4/2021

Last week’s golf was highlighted by the running of the New England Veterans Week of Golf in Inverell. Between 140 and 150 players hit off each day with players coming from North Queensland and the South Coast and many places in between.

For the veterans Week of Golf, daily competitions were run on each of the four playing days. The main event for the week was the 36-hole stableford held over Tuesday and Thursday. Vicki Gray from Uralla was the winner of the ladies while John Archibald from Bargara, Central Queensland, won the men’s section. These two were presented the perpetual shields after the closing lunch on Friday.

Week of Golf Tournament Director, Jim Shadlow, should be congratulated on his running of the very successful program. Jim and his wife Di have worked tirelessly for many months in preparation for the event.

Thanks also go to greenkeeper, Ben Watling, for his work in preparing the course and to the volunteers who helped in the preparation of the course and the running of the daily events. Thanks also go to the local sponsors.

Full details and photos are on this website in the ‘Veterans’ section.
