Golf Report for the week ending 1/12/2020
The 2020 Marquart Jug, Mills Plate and Clayton Cup finals have now all been determined. Tony Schutz and Matt O’Reilly defeated Rusty Brien and Corey Borthwick 3 and 1 in the Marquart Jug. Steve Kent and Gary Hadland defeated Peter Bucknell and Richard Black 4 and 3 and Ashley Walters and Ben Watling won the Clayton Cup against Larry Finney and Dave Worgan.
The ladies played a 3-person ambrose on Wednesday. The winning group was Trudi Tonkin, Sandy Cook and Lynne Lamrock. Runners up were Teena Myler, Wendy Alexander and Sue Urquhart.
Friday’s stableford was won by Kerry Nicholson with an excellent 41 points. Brenda Zabaks, 37, was next best followed by Judy Ditton with 34 points.
Teena Myler, with 36 points, was the winner of Saturday’s stableford in a countback with Brenda Zabaks and Sue Urquhart.
Tuesday’s veteran’s played an ambrose. The winning team was Mary Schofield, Gillian Black and Anne Peters. Runners up in a countback were Lyn O’Brien, Shirley Horwood and Julie McRae.
Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Brian McLennan with 31 points in a countback with Graham Moore. Graham has been walking around with a big smile on his face since recording a hole-in-one on the 12th. He will tell you all about it if you have a spare 10 minutes and can understand the Kiwi accent. Next best was John Watts with 29 points. Steve Kent won the putting with 14 putts.
On Saturday Matt O’Reilly had an outstanding round finishing with 43 points. Matt, playing off 17, had 80 off the stick to take the day by 3 points over Ken Austin. Marc Borgas, Tony Schutz and Matt Sparke all finished with 39 points. Next best were Brian McLennan and Tom Kennedy with 38 points.
Tuesday’s veteran golf was taken out by a smiley Allen Bujack. Al finished with 37 points, one ahead of Wok Smith and Col Paton. Ball winners were Ross Tutt, 35, and John Tom, 34, and Leon Fox in a countback with 33 points.
No results available for the Murray Marshall Memorial golf Day, a 3 -person ambrose, played on Sunday.
Last week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was won Morgan Reece with 19 points.
The next weeks program including the daily Dash for Cash which operates every day except Saturday and the non-handicap card draw which runs throughout the week.
Wednesday, December 2, the ladies play a stableford.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday’s the ladies play a stableford.
Saturday, December 5, the ladies play a stableford and the men will play the Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug stroke. The winners of the last 12 monthly mugs will also playoff for the Gold Mug.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
On Tuesday, the men’s veterans play a stableford with an 8:30 start. The ladies have finished for the year.
