Golf Report for the week ending 24/11/2020
The 2020 Marquart Jug and Clayton Cup finals will be determined on Saturday when Tony Schutz and Matt O’Reilly play Rusty Brien and Corey Borthwick in the Marquart Jug. Ashley Walters and Ben Watling take on Larry Finney and Dave Worgan in the Clayton Cup. The Mills Plate has been determined when Steve Kent and Gary Hadland defeated Peter Bucknell and Richard Black 4 and 3.
Judy Ditton and Sandy Cook paired up to win Wednesday’s fourball aggregate stableford with 78 points. Helen Edwards and Anne Peters were next best with 76 points and then Julie Clark and Nicky Cusack with 72 points.
Friday’s stableford was won by Judy Ditton with 38 points. Sandra Williams, 36 points, and Pat Pickering, 35 points, were next best.
Ange Driscoll was the winner of Saturday’s stableford with 36 points. Trudi Tonkin, Sandy Cook and Wendy Alexander all finished with 34 points.
Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won Darrell Campbell with 32 points. Next were Peter Payne, 31 points, and Jack Hepi, 30 points.
The putting was won by Herb Cox with 16 putts.
Saturday’s event was the Tom Nunan 4BBB in conjunction with a stableford. The Tom Nunan Day was won by John and Ken Austin with 49 points. Next best were Marc Borgas and Ben Davis, 48 points, and Steve Glover and Anthony Hyde and John Coote and Adrian King, 47 points.
After winning last Saturday’s individual stableford in a countback, Adrian King lost to John Austin this week. John and Adrian finished with 40 points. Steve Glover, Garry Hadland, Herb Cox and Tristan Irwin all finished with 39 points. Dave Schofield, Ian Jeffery and Tony Baldwin returned scores of 38.
There were some excellent cards handed in on the day with Tristan Irwin and Ian Jeffery each finishing with 74 off the stick and Steve Glover, Rowan Butler and Tony Baldwin 75 off the stick.
Larry Finney was the winner of Tuesday’s veteran golf. Playing off a handicap of 6 Larry parred the top 9 and had 3 over down the bottom for a 73 off the stick and 39 points. His score included an eagle on the 5th where he used a gap wedge from 50m out to sink the shot. Next best was Graham Moore who finished with 38 points. He was followed by Farley Sherrott and Barry Young with 37 and then Dave Ryan, 36 and Steve Glover, 34.
Larry Finney won the putting with 27 putts and Graham Moore won the Monthly Mug with 108 points.
Ange Driscoll was a clear winner in Sunday’s medley stableford. Ange finished with 41 points. She was followed by Rowan Butler, 37 points, and Lachlan Green,35 points.
Last week’s 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was won Matt Reece with 21 points.
The next weeks program including the daily Dash for Cash which operates every day except Saturday and the non-handicap card draw which runs throughout the week.
Wednesday, November 25, the ladies play a 3-person ambrose followed by annual presentation.
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday’s the ladies play a stableford.
Saturday, November 28, the ladies play a stableford and the men will also play stableford. The finals of the Marquart Jug and Clayton Cup will also be played saturday.
Sunday is Murray Marshall Memorial Golf Day, a 3-person ambrose with a 10am shotgun start. This is a motor neuron support fund raiser and entries can be made by ringing the clubhouse. Teams can be men’s women’s or mixed.
On Tuesday, the ladies veteran’s play their 9-hole stableford and the men’s veterans play a stableford with an 8:30 start.
