Golf Report for the week ending 27/10/2020

The Clubs AGM will take place tomorrow Wednesday, October 28. It will be a 6pm start at the Club House. All welcome

Ladies Results

Inverell hosted the NSW Women’s Golf Medal District playoff on Wednesday. The winners of Division 1, 2 and 3 were Kay Nash from Armidale, Jenny Western from Armidale and Jennifer Tierney from Guyra. Inverell’s Helen Edwards missed out in Division 2 in a countback.

On the same day a stroke event was run for the visitors and locals. Trudi Tonkin was an outstanding winner with a nett score of 64. This was 6 shots clear of Kay Nash and Lynne Lamrock. Sandy Cook, 71, and Leonie Davison, 74, were next best.

Friday’s stableford was won by Bronwyn Thorley with 38 points. She was followed by Leonie Davison, 35, and Judy Ditton 33.

The numbers have been rising at Tuesday’s veterans comp and the ladies are gathering for a nice social chat and cuppa after the game. This week’s comp was taken out by Helen Tickle followed by Anne Peters.

 

Men’s Results

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Steve Kent with 25 points. Rodney Loy and Howard Finlen took 2nd and 3rd in a 4-way countback with 24 points.

Putting was won by Darrel Campbell with 19 putts.

With a high probability of rain, a small field presented for Saturday’s stableford. Morgan Reece had a particularly good round to finish with 39 points, 3 points clear of his son, Matt, and Brett Woodward. Ken Austin and Anthony Hyde were next best with 35 points.

Tuesday’s veterans golf was a 4-BBB with a draw for partners. The winners were Steve Kent and Allen Bujack with 45 points. They were followed by Leon Fox and John Williams and Gordon Dean and Peter Wallace with 43 points. Geoff Ditton and Dave Ryan took 4th while Col Flood and Noel Tomlinson took 5th in a 3-way countback..

Mixed Results

Tony Baldwin was best in on Sunday to take out the medley stableford with 37 points. Rowan Butler and Matt Reece were next best with 36 points followed by Harry Edmonds and Morgan Reece with 35.

 

The next weeks program including the daily Dash for Cash which operates every day except Saturday and the non-handicap card draw which runs throughout the week.

Wednesday, October 28, the ladies play a 4BBB stroke.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will be a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday will be stablefords for both the men and the women.

Sunday will be a medley stableford.

On Tuesday, the ladies veteran’s play their 9-hole stableford and the men’s veterans play their stableford with an 8:30 start.

Mogan Reece had 39 points to win Saturday's comp.

Trudi Tonkin finished with a nett 64 to take out Wednesday's comp aragraphs.
