BGolf Report for the week ending 10/11/2020
The 2020 Hoyt Cup and Order of Merit were finalised on Saturday.
Bob Watson, the leader going into the final round of the Hoyt Cup, had a great round to finish with nett 66 and take out the cup 9 shots clear of his nearest rival, Steve Kent. Adrian King moved into 3rd spot after recording 73 nett.
Tony Baldwin had too big a lead in the Order of Merit for chasers to catch him and managed to take out the trophy without being available on Saturday. Ian Jeffery was next best followed by John Coote.
Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Max Uebergang with 30 points. Greg Brabrant and Barry Croft took the next two spots in a countback with 28 points.
Herb Cox, with 18 putts, won the putting in a countback with Doug Shirley.
Geoff Caban had a brilliant round to win Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Brokers Monthly Mug. Geoff, playing off a handicap of 14, had 10 pars and 2 birdies in his round to finish with 74 off the stick and a nett 60, 10 under his handicap. This was 4 better than 2nd placed Nick Cummings and another two better than Bob Cook and Bob Watson.
The Monthly Mug Grade winners were A Grade – Bob Cook with 66 nett, B Grade – Bob Watson with 66 nett and C/D Grade – Nick Cummings 64 nett.
Others to play well were Ben Davis, 68, and Rowan Butler, Ken Austin, Peter Wallace, Ben Watling and Mark Alder, each with nett 69.
Tuesday’s veterans golf was won by Ron Cheshire with 39 points. Steve Kent, Gerry Rickard, Dave Ryan and Gordon Dean all finished with 36 to be the next 4 place getters. The final spot was taken by Graham Moore in a countback with 35 points.
Julie Clark and Helen Edwards took out the 36 hole 4-ball stroke on Wednesday. They finished with a score of 130, 3 shots ahead of 1st round leaders Leonie Davison and Sue Urquhart.
Di Shadlow showed some good form to take out Friday’s stableford with 38 points. Next best was Gillian Black, 36 points, followed by Judy Ditton and Bronwyn Thorley with 35 points.
Saturday’s ladies stableford was won by Brenda Zabaks in a 3-way countback with Trudi Tonkin and Wendy Alexander. Each finished with 35 points.
Tuesday’s veteran’s was won Lyn O’Brien and Julie McRae was the runner up.
Sunday’s medley stableford was taken out by Greg Bushell with 34 points. He was followed by Rowan Butler with 33 points.
The 9-hole ’Dash for Cash’ was won Peter Schofield with 18 points.
The next weeks program including the daily Dash for Cash which operates every day except Saturday and the non-handicap card draw which runs throughout the week.
Wednesday, November 11, the ladies have their Monthly Medal Winners Playoff
The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.
Friday’s ladies comp has been cancelled due to NAIDOC Golf Competition.
Saturday, November 14, the ladies play a par event while the men play a stableford. This is the also the last chance for completion of the 4th round of the Marquart Jug and 3rd round of the Mills Plate for the men. Winners from these rounds will join the Clayton Cup finalists for the finals on November 29.
Sunday will be a medley stableford.
On Tuesday, the ladies veteran’s play their 9-hole stableford and the men’s veterans play a stableford with an 8:30 start.
Note the Murray Marshall Memorial Golf Day, a 3-person ambrose, will be held November 29 with a 10am shotgun start. This is a motor neuron support fund raiser.
