Golf Report for the week ending 15/9/2020

Congratulations go to Brett Drewitt again. Brett has been performing brilliantly in the Korn Ferry Tour, a 2nd tier tour which is the step-up series to get into the PGA tour. Brett won last week in Illinois and Monday morning our time finished the 4 rounds, 10 under par, equal 19th in Chicago.

Ladies Results

There was a good-sized field out to contend for Wednesday’s stableford. Kerry Nicholson had an impressive round to finish with 39 points. Lynne Lamrock was only one point behind followed by Julie Clark and Pat Pickering with 37 points.

Friday’s stableford was won by Bronwyn Thorley with 37 points. She was followed by Jan Frater, Kerry Nicholson and Helen Tickle all with 32 points.

Brodie Smith was best in on Saturday with 35 points.

Men’s Results

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was washed out this week.

Saturday proved to be another beautiful day for golf. Matt Black continued his good form to win the day with 47 points, 7 points clear of his nearest rival. Matt has lost another 7.3 off his handicap and takes him down 13 shots in 8 days. Ian Jeffery and Troy Craven were 2nd and 3rd placed with 40 points. Rowan Butler was next with best with 39 and then Liam Spalding and Sean Read with 38. Bob Albinus and Scott Moylan finished with 37 points.

There were very good numbers turned up to play Sunday’s stableford. Many were completing rounds in the Marquart Jug, Mills Plate and Clayton Cup. Young Ben Butler was best in with 42 points. Tom Skipper and Brian Fox finished with 39, Matt Reece, 36, and Justin Bushell, Chris Drake and Howard Finlen, 35 points.

Veteran Son Beats Father

Club president, Bob Watson, was back in form after a lean period to win Tuesday’s veterans comp with 40 points. Visitor/father, Colin Darley was next best with 39 points, followed by Jim Shadlow, 37, and Allen Bujack, Graham Moore and Gordon Dean all with 36 points. The putting was won by Jim Shadlow with 25 putts.

Richard Black won the veterans Monthly Mug with a 3-round total of 111 which was 5 shots clear of 2nd placed Gordon Dean.

Next week the vets have a self-selected pairs. If you haven’t given your pairs to Tim either book in yourself or give your names to Dick by Saturday.

Wednesday, September 16, the ladies play a stroke.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will be a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday, September 19, the men and ladies will both single stablefords.

Sunday will be a medley stableford.

On Tuesday, the men’s veterans have their 8:30am shotgun start ( TOP NINE START ) with a self-selected 4-ball playing for Grass Roots vouchers. The ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp.
