Ladies Results

The ladies completed the 2nd round of their Championships last Wednesday with Sandy Cook continuing her consistent form and her lead in both the gross and nett events. Sandy has an 11-shot lead over second placed Liz Hobday in the gross competition and her nett score of 145 gives her a 1 shot lead over Lynne Lamrock in the nett competition. Helen Edwards is close behind as well. The final round will be completed tomorrow.

Friday’s stabelford was taken out by Kerry Nicholson, 34 points, in a countback with Sandra Williams. Pat Pickering was next best with 33.

With the weather forecast not good, very few ladies turned up for Saturday’s stableford. Di Shadlow and Gloria Davis finished with 30 points each.

Tuesday’s veterans 9-hole golf was a social outing again with cold drizzly weather winning the day.

Men’s Results

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Nick Heagney with an excellent 33 points.  Peter Payne was next best with 31 points followed by Herb Cox with 29 points. The putting was won by Darrell Campbell with 19 putts.

With a good chance of rain over both days of the weekend the Championships were postponed another week. While the weather looked dicey for Saturday’s stabledford and would have stopped some of the later players, 52 managed to complete their rounds. This was well short of the 100 that hit off the previous weekend. A stableford was played and father and son, Ted and Harry Edmonds, took 1st and 2nd places with 39 and 38 points respectively. Jai Tasker and Bruce Garrett came in next best with 37 points and then John Austin and Mitch Myler with 36 points. Ball winners went down to 35 points.

Morgan Reece, with 33 points, was best in for Sunday’s stabelford. Matthew Reece was next best with 32.

Tuesday’s veterans stableford was won by Larry Finney with 31 points on another cold golf day. Wok Smith and Ron Cheshire too 2nd and 3rd with 30 points and John Foulcher 4th in a countback with Col Flood and Bob Watson. Larry Finney took the putting prize with 31 putts. Jim Shadlow won the 3 round July monthly mug, one point ahead of Tim Newberry and Ron Cheshire.
