A note from the club – As from Saturday the rakes will be available in bunkers and there will no longer be preferred lies in the bunker.

Results from the last week

Mens Results

There has been a shuffle in the leadership of the Inverell men’s golf Order of Merit. After Saturday’s Monthly Mug, John Coote moved to the lead with Tony Baldwin, Steve Kent and Ian Jeffery not far behind.

 

After eight rounds Bob Watson remains at the lead of the Hoyt Family Trophy but now has Jeremy Budda Deen and Steve Kent joining him. Very close behind are John Foulcher and Adrian King.

John Watts, with 28 points, took out Thursday’s 12-hole comp in a countback with Darryl Campbell. Brian McLennan was next best with 27 points while Steve Kent won the putting with 15 putts.

 

Saturday’s Sutton Insurance Broker Monthly Mug was won by Rusty Brien playing off a daily handicap of 11. Rusty finished with a solid nett 68 in cold windy conditions.

Grade winners were A Grade – John Foulcher, 69, B Grade – Bruce Garrett 72, C Grade – Col Flood, 70, and D Grade – Peter Wallace, 69.

Ball winners were Steve Kent, 69, and then Matt McHarg, Bob Cook, Herb Cox and Luke Bourke all with nett 72.

Jeremy Budda Deen and Aaron Baker were best in on Sunday, each finishing with 30 points.

 

Tuesday’s veterans comp was won by the reliable Steve Kent with 35 points. Tim Newberry had a good round to come in 2nd with 34 points and Simon Smith, Brian McLennan and Steve Glover were the place getters in a 4-way countback with 33 points. The putting was won by Simon Smith with 29 putts.

 

Ladies Results

Last Wednesday’s event was the Keno 2 person Ambrose with 24 entrants. The winning team with a score of 65.75 was Wendy Alexander and Sue Urquhart. They now qualify to go onto the next round. Next best was Helen Lockwood and Lynne Lamrock with 67, followed in by Helen Edwards and Brenda Zabaks. 

Brenda Zabaks and Pat Pickering continued their good form in Friday’s stableford with Brenda finishing on 33 points and Pat, 31, to take 1st and 2nd on the day.

Saturday’s stableford was won by Helen Lockwood in a countback with Leoni Davidson. They finished with 33 points.

Lorna Smith was the winner of Tuesday’s 9-hole Veterans competition. She was followed by Pat Pickering.

 

The next weeks program is. Wednesday, July 8, the ladies play a single stableford.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will be a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday, July 11, the men will play a modified stableford while the ladies will play a single stableford.

Sunday will be a medley stableford.

On Tuesday, the men’s veterans have their 9 am shotgun start while the ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp.

 

Members should note

Players are reminded that the qualifying round of the men’s 4-ball Marquart Jug will be held July 18.

The men’s and women’s Club Championships are fast approaching. The ladies will be playing Wednesday’s July 15, 22 and 29. The men will play theirs over two weekends July 25 and 26 and August 1 and 2.
