Golf Report week ending 18/8/2020

Men’s Results

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Rod Loy, 28 points, in a countback with Josh Vickery. Next best was Ken Austin. With 26 points.

Putting was won by Herb Cox with 16 putts in a countback with John Lane.

There were numerous good scores handed in for Saturdays stableford. Bruce Garrett had a wonderful round to finish with 41 points and take the day just one point ahead of John Austin. Next best were Dave Wargent, Wil Williamson and Matt Reece with 38 points and Rhys Aleckson and Dave Worgan, 37. Ball winners went down to 35.

Sunday’s medley stableford was won by Scott Woodward in a countback with Luke Bourke on 38 points. Jason Shaw was next best with 34 points.

Tuesday’s veterans comp was won by Peter Bucknell with 37 points. Pete showed his class on the 5th when he played his 3rd shot over a tree into the bunker on the full. The ball bounced out of the bunker and onto the green. He then sank the 10m putt for a par. Alex Wyper was next best with 35. Ball winners were Steve Kent, 33, and then Dave Ryan and Barry Young in countbacks on 32 points.

Barry Young was the winner of the vets monthly Mug with a 3 round total of 102 points. This was 4 ahead of Larry Finney.


Ladies Results

Wednesday’s NSW Medal stroke event was taken out by Helen Edwards with nett 70. Lyn O’Brien finished with 71, Helen Tickle 75 and Julie Clark 76.

Another good field turned up on Friday. Jan Frater had a wonderful game to finish with 41 points, 5 points ahead of 2nd placed Lyn O’Brien. Sandra Williams was next best with 35 and then Leigh Hobbs with 34.

Sue Urquhart was best in on Saturday with 36 points. Next best were Sandy Cook, 32, and Brenda Zabaks, 30.

Pat Pickering was the winner of Tuesday’s veteran ladies. Lyn O’Brien was the runner up.



The next weeks program is.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 19 the ladies play a 27-hole foursomes championship with a seeded draw.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will be a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday will be the Mixed Keno State Ambrose qualifier. Stableford competitions will be run for both men and women not entered in the mixed qualifier.

Sunday will be a medley stableford and also the final chance to play Round 1 of the Marquart Jug for the men.

Note - the 2-person Men’s Keno State Ambrose qualifier will now be played the following Sunday August 30.

On Tuesday, the veteran men will have a draw for partners in a mystery comp. with a 9am shotgun start while the ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp.

The men’s 4-ball championships are coming up – Saturday August 29.
