Golf Report for the week ending 22/9/2020

Just a quick reminder that plant vouchers are in the process of being sent out by Inverell Shire Council.  If you can't use your voucher please drop it into the golf club as we are in a replanting program and need all the help we can get.

Ladies Results

There some very good scores handed in for Wednesday’s stroke event. Lyn O’Brien was the best with nett 72. Brenda Zabacks, Leigh Hobbs and Sandra Williams took the next three places, each with nett 73.

Friday’s stableford was won by Helen Tickle who had a good round to finish with 41 points. Di Shadlow, 36 points, and Gloria Winmill, 34, took out 2nd and 3rd spots.

Wendy Alexander was best in last Saturday with 37 points. Leigh Hobbs was next with 35 points and then Brenda Zabacks with 34.

Tuesday’s veterans was taken out by Anne Peters and Lorna Smith was the runner up.

Also an early notice - the ladies will hold their AGM October 14.– all members are encouraged to attend.

 

Men’s Results

Thursday’s 12-hole comp was won by Graham Moore, 29 points, in a 4-way countback. Brian Winmill and Peter Payne came 2nd and 3rd in the countback.

The putting was won by Rod Jones in another 4-way countback with 19 putts.

Geoff Bucknell produced a winning round when he finished with 41 points in Saturday’s Stableford. Club President, Bob Watson, continued his good form to finish equal with Geoff but missed 1st place in a countback. Old timer Gordon Dean is still producing great golf. Gordon is playing off 8 and finished with 75 off the stick for 39 points. Another experienced golfer, Richard Black, maintained his good form through September to finish with 37 points. Geoff Caban, Alex Livingston, Steve Glover and Harry Edmonds all finished with 37 points.

Best in for a small turn out on a wet Sunday was Greg Bushell with 39 points. Michael Williams also performed well to finish with 38 points.

The veterans played a self-selected 4-ball for Grass Roots vouchers on Tuesday. The winning pair was Bob Albinus and Steve Glover with 45 points. Pairs Col Paton/Stewart Berryman and Bob Watson/Dave Ryan finished with 44. Chris Thomas/Peter Brame, Steve Kent/Leon Fox and Phil Goddard/Farley Sherrott finished with 43 points. Gordon Dean and Allen Bujack won the Bradman’s in a 3-way countback. Best individual was Ron Cheshire with 39 points and Jim Shadlow won the putting with 27 putts.

 

The next weeks program is.

Wednesday, September 23, the ladies play a stableford.

The men’s 12-hole comp is on Thursday.

Friday will be a stableford for the ladies.

Saturday, September 26, the men and ladies will both be single stablefords.

Sunday will be a medley stableford.

On Tuesday, the men’s veterans have their 8:30am shotgun starting on the bottom 9 and then on to the top 9. The ladies’ veterans will play their 9-hole comp on the top 9.
